Workshops with Prof. BethAnne Paulsrud
Date: 09-10.12.2025
As part of the activities of the Doctoral School of Philological and Cultural Studies (PhilKult), Session Language, Culture and Society, Prof. BethAnne Paulsrud, Associate Professor at the Department of Teaching and Learning, Stockholm University, delivered two workshops at the Zentrum für Lehrer*innenbildung. The workshops focused on research concepts and methodological approaches related to multilingualism, teacher education, parental engagement, and language policy.
Prof. Paulsrud’s first workshop, “Analyzing Multilingual and Multicultural Identities from an Educational and Postcolonial Perspective,” introduced participants to the MINTED project, which examines how multilingualism and intercultural education are addressed in educational policy and teacher training in Sweden and Finland. The second workshop, “Appraisal Analysis Framework for Evaluative Language,” provided a hands-on introduction to appraisal analysis and its application in research on attitudes toward multilingualism and teacher beliefs.
We were delighted by the rich exchange with Prof. Paulsrud and by the opportunity to further strengthen academic networks between Stockholm University and the University of Vienna.
